(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) Chup Tazia procession was taken out in Karachi on Friday to commemorate the martyrdom of Imam Hasan al-Askari (R.A).Chup Tazia, or silent tazia, is the name given to religious processions held on 8th of Rabi al-awwal. The procession is usually regarded as the last procession of the mourning period that begins in the Islamic month of Muharram.The first procession started after the Fajr prayer from Nishtar Park in Soldier Bazar and culminated at Imambargah Hussainia Irania in Kharadar. After the Zohrain prayers, the second procession took out from Qasr-e-Musayyab in Rizvia Society to Masjid-o-Imambargah Shah-e-Najaf on Martin Road.Carrying alams, tazia or the taboot (replica of the coffin), some mourners were beating their chests and heads, performing self-flagellation with chains in honor of the martyred Imam.Strict security plan for the Tazia processions was enforced by the police, with Rangers also deployed for the security of processions. Police said snap checking, police patrol, picketing and intelligence sharing had been enhanced in areas along the procession routes./149
